Celebrating the Festive Season at CHS South: 12 Days of Rewards
19th Dec 2025

The festive spirit was in full swing at CHS South this December as students and staff took part in our much-loved 12 Days of Rewards celebration. Designed to recognise positive behaviour, commitment and effort, the initiative highlighted everything from punctuality and attendance to creativity, curiosity and home learning, all while spreading plenty of Christmas cheer.

Across the twelve days, students were rewarded for consistently demonstrating our high expectations and Qualities of Success, with prizes ranging from chocolate treats and vouchers to queue-jump passes and celebration hampers.

The rewards began by celebrating punctuality, with students who arrived on time to school, and lessons entered prize draws across year groups. Achievement points were also recognised, with weekly winners receiving Amazon vouchers as a reward for their hard work and positive attitude.

Our popular Celebration Station returned twice during the fortnight, inviting students to proudly wear their Qualities of Success badges or bring along creative work they had produced in lessons. These moments allowed staff to celebrate students’ achievements beyond the classroom while reinforcing the importance of creativity, optimism and curiosity.

Home learning was another key focus, with students who demonstrated exemplary commitment being nominated by subjects and rewarded with queue-jump passes, a firm festive favourite. Attendance was also celebrated throughout the campaign, with students maintaining 100% attendance entered prize draws for larger rewards, including Deliveroo vouchers and selection boxes.

The celebrations culminated in a final-day raffle, recognising students who had achieved 100% attendance, zero lates and zero behaviour points across the period. One student from each year group won a special Celebration Hamper, featuring a £50 voucher, chocolates and a queue-jump pass for the first week back after Christmas, a fantastic way to end the term on a high.

Festive Dance Performances Bring Year Groups Together

Adding to the festive atmosphere, students across the school also took part in a special Christmas dance project led by dance teacher Miss Ali. In an impressive achievement, each year group learned their full routine in just one hour-long lesson, demonstrating outstanding focus, confidence and teamwork.

The performances, set to festive music, showcased not only the students’ dance skills but also their ability to work collaboratively and support one another. Rehearsals were filled with laughter and encouragement, helping to build a strong sense of unity and excitement as students performed together as year groups.

Miss Ali praised the students’ enthusiasm and commitment, highlighting how confidently they rose to the challenge in such a short space of time. The performances were a wonderful celebration of teamwork, creativity and festive spirit across the school.

Young Carers Enjoy a Festive Treat at the Christmas Markets

This festive season, we were delighted to celebrate and support our young carers at CHS South. As a special treat, they enjoyed a trip to the Christmas Markets, where they savoured hot chocolate and other festive goodies. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to relax, enjoy some festive fun, and be recognised for the care and commitment they show every day.

Celebrating Our Staff Too

The celebrations didn’t stop with students. Staff at CHS South also enjoyed their own 12 Days of Rewards, with daily treats and surprises designed to say thank you for their hard work and dedication throughout the term. From festive food and stocking-filler gifts to wellbeing treats such as gong spa sessions, it was a well-deserved opportunity to recognise the commitment of staff who go above and beyond for our students every day.

As the term ended, the 12 Days of Rewards perfectly captured the spirit of CHS South,  celebrating effort, positivity and community, while bringing students and staff together during the most festive time of the year.

“Our 12 Days of Rewards has been a wonderful way to celebrate the commitment, positivity and pride our students show every day at CHS South. From punctuality and attendance to creativity and teamwork, it has been fantastic to recognise the many ways our young people strive to be Ready, Respectful and Safe. You can see even more of what we have been up to this term in our Spotlight on South magazine, which captures the many successes and memorable moments from across the school community.”
