at CHS South
At CHS South, Ethics, Philosophy & Religion (EPR) equips students with the knowledge and skills to understand the world around them and the diverse beliefs within it. We believe that to truly understand society, culture, and history, students need to understand religion and worldviews. Through a variety of teaching strategies, exploration of faiths, and engagement with current ethical and philosophical issues, students learn to think critically, reflect thoughtfully, and develop empathy for people from all walks of life.
Our vision for EPR is to:
Nurture curiosity about the world’s religions, philosophies, and ethical challenges.
Encourage respect and empathy for people of all faiths and none.
Develop critical thinking skills through debate, analysis, and questioning.
Equip students to engage in meaningful discussions with tolerance and diplomacy.
Promote social and emotional development, supporting students’ personal growth.
The EPR curriculum integrates Religious Education and PHSE, providing opportunities to explore diverse communities, cultural perspectives, and moral dilemmas while preparing students to be thoughtful, active citizens.
