At CHS South, our RESPECT curriculum plays a vital role in preparing students for the opportunities, responsibilities, and challenges of modern life. RESPECT lessons are dedicated to supporting students' personal development in Year 10 and Year 11, helping them to become confident, resilient, and compassionate individuals.
RESPECT stands for:
Relationships
Employability
Social Education
Personal Development
Empowerment
Community & Citizenship
Thinking Critically
Through weekly lessons, students explore key themes that develop their character, wellbeing, and readiness for adulthood. The curriculum empowers young people to make informed decisions, understand themselves and others, and contribute positively to their communities.
The RESPECT curriculum strengthens our wider SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) provision and embeds the statutory RSE framework across Key Stage 4. Our aim is to support every student in becoming creative, happy, and successful both in school and in life beyond it.
Our vision for RESPECT is to:
Promote healthy relationships based on mutual respect, trust, and understanding.
Develop students’ personal wellbeing, including mental health, resilience, and self-awareness.
Prepare students for employability and life after school, building essential life skills.
Encourage responsible decision-making in areas including lifestyle, safety, and relationships.
Support students’ social development, helping them engage confidently with the world around them.
Strengthen critical thinking, enabling students to question, analyse, and reflect.
