Introduction

At CHS South, Physical Education is about more than sport. It is about health, wellbeing, and a lifelong love of physical activity. Our curriculum is designed to inspire every student to find enjoyment and confidence in being active, while developing essential skills such as teamwork, leadership, and resilience.

Through a wide range of activities, from invasion games and athletics to fitness, swimming, and dance, students experience challenge, competition, and personal growth. PE at CHS South helps students to stay healthy, build character, and develop passions that last well beyond school.

Our Intent

We promote the distinction between Physical Education, School Sport, and Physical Activity to ensure students gain a rounded and meaningful experience.

The PE Department aims to:

  • Place health and wellbeing at the heart of school life.

  • Provide a wide variety of physical activities to engage all learners.

  • Develop motor skills, fitness, and an understanding of healthy lifestyles.

  • Inspire leadership, independence, and resilience through sport.

  • Offer opportunities to compete regionally and nationally.

  • Encourage lifelong participation in physical activity, both recreationally and professionally.

Why Study PE?

PE develops skills that go beyond the sports hall:

Health & Wellbeing – building habits for a healthy lifestyle.

Teamwork & Leadership – working with and inspiring others.

Resilience – pushing through challenges and setbacks.

Confidence – developing self-belief through performance.

Transferable Skills – communication, problem-solving, and independence.
