A Year 7 student at CHS South is celebrating an impressive chess achievement after winning gold at a national competition.
Having played chess since the age of six, the student has already represented Manchester at Under-9 and Under-11 level while still aged just seven. Now competing in Under-12 and Under-14 categories, they have secured numerous first-place finishes across county, national and individual tournaments.
Alongside junior competitions, they also regularly compete in adult chess events, where they have achieved notable success, including winning cash prizes.
Most recently, the student represented Manchester in the 4NCL Under-18s team competition in Coventry, where the team finished in first place, taking home the gold trophy.
This achievement highlights the dedication, resilience and ambition of our students beyond the classroom, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate their success.
